Font Emulator
Show it lettering you love, get original SVG type back. Decodes a typeface's construction DNA from a screenshot and draws original letterforms that carry it. Never traces, never touches the font file.
- Python
- SVG
- Claude Code
- Open Source
you find lettering you love. your options are usually: license the font, settle for a google font that is never quite it, or let a model hallucinate an svg that looks like melted letters.
there is a fourth option type designers have always used. decode the construction rules, then draw your own letters that obey them. this does that, with an engine underneath so it is reproducible instead of a one-off.
the constitution it will not break: emulate, never copy. if the reference font's name is legible it gets identified and told to you, because you may want to license the real thing. what gets drawn is original work in that genre.
it ships a dependency-free python engine and a 70-glyph library, so you can run it without claude code at all.
the wordmarks on this site came out of it. the slot machine that flips between my names, and the giant lowercase handle across the footer, both from one type specimen screenshot.
